                         DIRECTOR'S EXTERNAL APPOINTMENT

In accordance with the FSA's Listing Rule 9.6.14, Amlin plc ('Amlin') announces
that Mr Richard Davey, an independent non-executive director of Amlin, was
appointed on 14 May 2007 as non-executive chairman of London Capital Group
Holdings plc, a company quoted on AIM. Mr Davey is also non-executive Vice
Chairman of the Yorkshire Building Society and senior independent non-executive
director of Severn Trent Plc.
