                           TRANSFER OF TREASURY SHARES

Amlin plc ('Amlin') announces that on 19 September 2008 it transferred from
treasury to participants in its employee share option scheme(s), the following
number of its ordinary shares of 28.125 pence each ('ordinary shares'):

1,962 ordinary shares at an exercise price of 152.85 pence per share

10,285 ordinary shares at an exercise price of 161.77 pence per share

228 ordinary shares at an exercise price of 266.00 pence per share

Following the above transfer of shares out of treasury, Amlin holds a total of
10,556,956 of its ordinary shares in treasury and has 468,016,483 ordinary
shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
