Appointment of Two Independent, Non-Executive Directors

Stewart Gilliland and Tony Smurfit appointed to C&C Board

Dublin, London, 17 April, 2012: C&C Group plc (‘C&C’ or the 'Group’), a leading manufacturer, marketer and distributor of branded long alcohol drinks, principally in Ireland and the UK, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Stewart Gilliland and Mr Tony Smurfit as independent non-executive directors to the Group’s Board of Directors with effect from 17 April, 2012.

About Mr Stewart Gilliland

Mr Stewart Gilliland served as Chief Executive Officer of the multinational dairy products producer, Müller Dairy (UK) Ltd (‘Müller’), from 2006 to 2010. Mr Gilliland joined Müller from the leading global brewer, Interbrew SA, where he held a number of senior international roles in markets including Europe, Canada, the UK and Ireland. Prior to this, Mr Gilliland worked with Whitbread Beer Company, a division of Whitbread PLC, the UK's largest hotel and restaurant group, for 14 years. He is a non-executive Director of Booker Group plc, Vianet Group PLC and Sutton & East Surrey Water Plc. He is also a non-executive on the board of the Department for Communities and Local Government in the UK.

About Mr Tony Smurfit

Mr Tony Smurfit is President and Chief Operations Officer of Smurfit Kappa Group (‘SKG’), one of the world’s largest integrated manufacturers of paper-based packaging products, a position he has held since 2002. Mr Smurfit also serves as an executive director of SKG. Mr Smurfit previously held the role of Chief Executive of Smurfit Europe, SKG’s largest division, from 1999 to 2002. Prior to this Mr Smurfit served as CEO of Smurfit France and worked in a number of divisions in SKG both in Europe and the United States.
