Centrica welcomes announcement on Rough gas storage facility - REPLACEMENT 

    LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug 01, 2003--

The following amendment should be made to the 
(CENTRICA-PLC)(CNA) Centrica welcomes announcement on Rough gas 
storage facility released today at 15:32 BST under BW20030801000336. 
The short name listed at the end of the announcement should have read 
Centrica PLC and not Amvescap PLC.  All other details remain unchanged.

(CENTRICA-PLC)(CNA) Centrica welcomes announcement on Rough gas storage 
facility

Centrica welcomes today's announcement by the Secretary of State that
it will be allowed to retain the Rough gas storage facility subject to
agreement of undertakings.

Chief Executive Sir Roy Gardner said 'We have always believed that
appropriate undertakings could be agreed to overcome any competition
concerns. We are pleased that the Commission has also come to this
view, ending the uncertainty for our customers, our shareholders and
the staff who work on the facility. We are comfortable with the
remedies recommended and look forward to working with the OFT and
Ofgem to implement them.'
