Centrica PLC Centrica announces Sir Roy Gardner's retirement Centrica plc announced today that Sir Roy Gardner will retire as the company's Chief Executive with effect from the summer of 2006. Sir Roy has agreed to join Compass Group as a non executive director from 1st October 2005 and will assume the chairmanship when Sir Francis Mackay retires. The Centrica Board, on the recommendation of its Nomination Committee, will work with a professional executive search firm to identify a suitable replacement. Due consideration will be given to both internal and external candidates. Sir Roy will remain firmly at the helm until next summer with the unqualified support and confidence of the Board and will deliver the business plan in the year ahead with continued resolve and commitment. Sir Roy said: 'I feel very privileged to have been given the opportunity to lead Centrica from the beginning and will continue to give my absolute commitment to the vigorous development and performance of the company over the coming year.'
