Centrica confirms discussions with SPE

Centrica plc today confirmed that it is in exclusive discussions with SPE NV in
relation to the potential acquisition of a majority stake in the Belgian
company, in partnership with Gaz de France SA. These discussions may or may not
lead to a transaction and a further announcement will be made in due course, if
appropriate.
