Close Period Share Repurchase Programme

Centrica plc today announces that it will commence an irrevocable,
non-discretionary programme with its brokers to purchase Centrica Ordinary
Shares on its own behalf, for cancellation during its close period which
commences on 1 January 2006 and ends on 22 February 2006. Any purchases will be
effected within certain pre-set parameters and in accordance with both the
Company's general authority to repurchase shares and the Listing Rules of the
Financial Services Authority.
