Interim Management Statement

This statement covers the period from 1 April 2009 to the date of release of the statement on 19 August 2009.

As at close of business on 31 July 2009, the unaudited Net Asset Value (NAV) for the Company was as follows:

NAV per Ordinary Share of 1p 59.49 pence.

Purchase of Ordinary Shares

May 2009

Pursuant to a special resolution passed by the shareholders of the Company on 19 May 2009, the Company purchased 5,076,447 ordinary shares of 10p each in the Company at a price of 52 pence per ordinary share on 29 May 2009. Of the shares purchased, 2,711,134 were to be held by the Company as treasury shares and 2,365,313 ordinary shares were cancelled.

Following the above purchase, the Company held 2,711,134 ordinary shares in treasury. The total number of ordinary shares in the Company in issue (excluding shares held as treasury shares) at 31 May 2009 was 27,111,349.

June 2009

328,617 ordinary shares were bought back for cancellation during June 2009 at a cost of £183,625. As at 30 June 2009, there were 26,782,732 ordinary shares of 1p in issue (excluding shares held as treasury shares).

July 2009

21,619 ordinary shares were bought back for cancellation during July 2009 at a cost of £11,935. As at 31 July 2009, there were 26,761,113 ordinary shares of 1p in issue (excluding shares held as treasury shares).

Investment Update

The fund was measured on the 18 August against the investment test as defined by HMRC and the result, 78.4%, leaves plenty of headroom over the 70% threshold. By market value, the fund has 59% of its value in qualifying investments, 29% in Government Bonds or Government guaranteed bank debt, 9% in cash and 4% in non-qualifying investments. It is likely that the weighting in non-qualifying equities will increase as the investment manager continues to develop that element of the investment strategy.
