Sean Fitzpatrick steps down as

Chairman of Smurfit Kappa Group plc

Smurfit Kappa Group plc (‘SKG’ or the ‘Group’), one of the world’s largest integrated manufacturers of paper-based packaging products with operations in Europe and Latin America, announces that Sean Fitzpatrick has tendered his resignation as Chairman of the Board with immediate effect. The Board has accepted his resignation with regret.

The Board and management of the Group acknowledge the major contribution Sean has made to the Group since his appointment as Chairman in March 2007 and wish him well for the future.

A further statement regarding the position of Chairman of the Board will issue in due course.
