Tate & Lyle PLC (the “Company”) was informed yesterday that on 23 February 2009, Sir Peter Gershon, a Non-Executive Director and Chairman-Elect of the Company purchased a total of 34,700 ordinary 25p shares in the capital of the Company on the London Stock Exchange at an average price of 285.32 pence per share. Sir Peter Gershon had not previously reported holding an interest in the shares of the Company.

This notification is made in accordance with DTR 3.1.4R(1)(a) of the FSA’s Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
