& Lyle PLC Corporate Personal Equity Plans ('PEPs') that a purchase of
13 Ordinary shares in Tate & Lyle PLC had been made at a price of
353.75 pence per share on 1 July 2002 for a PEP owned by Mr. S.
Gifford, a director of Tate & Lyle PLC. Mr Gifford now has an interest
in 155,415 Ordinary shares in Tate & Lyle PLC.
