a notifiable interest in the relevant share capital of Tate & Lyle PLC.

Barclays PLC had previously reported on 9 February 2004 holding 18,166,099
ordinary shares in Tate & Lyle PLC in which they had a material interest which
was then 3.77 per cent. of the nominal value of the relevant share capital.
