Tate & Lyle PLC (the 'Company') was informed on 1 March 2005 that, as a result
of the sale by ISI Nominees Limited of 27,872,173 ordinary shares of 25 pence
each in the Company, Archer Daniels Midland Company ('ADM') has ceased to have
an interest in any ordinary shares of the Company.

As announced on 13 December 2004, ADM had previously reported an interest in
27,872,173 ordinary shares in the Company which at that date was 5.74 per cent.
of the ordinary share capital of the Company.
