Tate & Lyle PLC ('the Company') was informed on 4 July 2006 that, as at

30 June 2006, Deutsche Bank AG and its subsidiary companies have a notifiable
interest in 26,511,620 ordinary shares of 25 pence each in the Company, being
5.45 per cent. of the Company's ordinary share capital.

Deutsche Bank AG had previously reported holding 29,484,075 ordinary shares in
Tate & Lyle PLC as at 22 June 2006 in which they had a notifiable interest which
was then 6.03 per cent. of the ordinary share capital.
