Tate & Lyle PLC ('the Company') was informed on 25 July 2005 that Deutsche Bank
AG and its subsidiary companies have a notifiable interest in 19,466,744
ordinary shares of 25 pence each in the Company, being 3.99 per cent. of the

Company's ordinary share capital.

Deutsche Bank AG had previously reported holding 19,584,293 ordinary shares in
the Company as at 18 July 2005 in which they had a notifiable interest which was
then 4.02 per cent of the ordinary share capital.
