                  Appointment of Non-Executive Deputy Chairman

                                 1 October 2008

The Board of Bovis Homes Group PLC is pleased to announce the appointment of
Alastair Lyons as independent non-executive Deputy Chairman with effect from 1
October 2008. In this newly created position, Alastair will also undertake the
role of Senior Independent Director.

Alastair is non-executive Chairman of Admiral Group PLC, the FTSE-100 direct
motor insurer, a position he has held since July 2000, and has considerable
commercial and retail experience. Alastair has a background in retail financial
services having been Chief Executive of both the National & Provincial Building
Society and the National Provident Institution, and a main board director of
Abbey National.

Bovis Homes Chairman Malcolm Harris said:

'I am delighted that Alastair is joining Bovis Homes Group PLC as non-executive
Deputy Chairman. This appointment further strengthens the Board's capabilities
and completes the Board structure announced at the end of 2007.'

Alastair holds 15,000 ordinary shares in Bovis Homes Group PLC.

the Listing Rules of the UK Listing Authority.
