PAION IS HOSTING A SPONSORED BYFAVO® SYMPOSIUM AT EUROANAESTHESIA 2023 IN GLASGOW
Aachen (Germany), 25 May 2023 - PAION AG (ISIN DE000A3E5EG5; Frankfurt Stock Exchange, Prime Standard: PA8K), a specialty pharmaceutical company with innovative compounds for use in outpatient and in-hospital sedation, anesthesia and intensive care will host a Byfavo® (remimazolam) symposium on 04 June 2023 at Euroanaesthesia 2023 in Glasgow, Scotland. The congress is one of the most important and significant conferences for anaesthesia and intensive care medicine worldwide. The symposium sponsored by PAION is called: “Remimazolam: a new horizon in general anaesthesia?” and will take place on Sunday 04 June 2023, 12.15–13.15 (BST). Prof Maurizio Cecconi (Italy) will chair the session. The speakers include respected physicians and clinical scientists including Dr Remco Vellinga, (The Netherlands) and Dr Heena Bidd (UK). PAION will be available for discussions on all three congress days from 03 to 05 June 2023 at booth D29 in the exhibition hall. Gregor Siebert, CEO of PAION AG, commented: "We are pleased to have the opportunity to showcase our innovative compound and to further facilitate discussion regarding our ultra-short-acting and controllable benzodiazepine sedative/anaesthetic. We are delighted that Professor Cecconi has agreed to chair the symposium which will allow us to further intensify the expert dialogue amongst international anesthesiologists. We plan to launch Byfavo® in general anesthesia in Europe very soon.” About Byfavo® Byfavo® (remimazolam) is an ultra-short-acting intravenous benzodiazepine sedative and -anaesthetic. In humans, Byfavo® is largely degraded to an inactive metabolite by hepatic esterases, a widely distributed type of enzyme, rather than by cytochrome-dependent degradation pathways in the liver. As with other benzodiazepines, an antidote is available in flumazenil for rapid reversal of the patient's sedation or anesthesia if needed. Data show that Byfavo® has a rapid onset of action and a rapid recovery, with a favorable cardiorespiratory safety profile. Byfavo® is partnered in the USA (trade name BYFAVOTM) with Eagle Pharmaceutical (Eagle), in Japan (trade name Anerem®) with Mundipharma, in South Korea (trade name ByfavoTM) and Southeast Asia with Hana Pharm, in Latin America with Cristália and in Taiwan with TTY Biopharm. In addition, PAION has distribution partnerships with Viatris for Belgium, Poland, France and Romania as well as the Southern European countries Italy, Spain and Greece and in Eastern Europe (Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia and Bulgaria) with Medis. These markets are currently not served by PAION itself.
