The Board of Aberforth Smaller Companies Trust plc confirm that, as reported in
the Chairman's Statement dated 25 July 2014, Professor Paul Marsh retired from
the Board as Chairman and a Director of the Company today, 17 October 2014.

Paul Trickett, a Director of the Company, has been appointed as Chairman with
immediate effect. At the same time, Paul Trickett has resigned from the Audit
Committee.
