Disclosure of Directors Interests in shares

Alliance Trust PLC ("the Company") on 30 May 2008 received notification that on
27 May 2008 RBC Cees Trustees Limited as Trustee of Alliance Trust PLC Employee
Benefit Trust ("the Trust") (a discretionary trust of which all employees of
the Company and its subsidiaries are beneficiaries), reduced the number of
ordinary 2.5p shares in the capital of the Company which they hold to meet
future awards made under the Alliance Trust PLC Senior Management Equity Income
Plans and the Long Term Incentive Plan (2007) by 6,644.

Alan Harden, David Deards and Katherine Garrett-Cox, all executive directors,
and Rowland Strickland, Person Discharging Managerial Responsibilities, are all
members of the class of discretionary beneficiaries of the Trust and are each
consequently deemed to have an interest in the shares held in the Trust on
behalf of the Company which now total 1,864,089 (0.277% of the Company's issued
share capital).
