Disclosure of Directors Interests in shares
Alliance Trust PLC ("the Company") on 6 January 2009 received notification from
RBC Cees Trustees Limited as Trustee of Alliance Trust PLC Employee Benefit
Trust ("the Trust") (a discretionary trust of which all employees of the
Company and its subsidiaries are beneficiaries), that on 6 January 2009, 420
Ordinary 2.5p shares in the capital of the Company which had been purchased on
behalf of the Company to meet future awards made under the Second Alliance
Trust Senior Management Equity Incentive Plan (`SMEIP') had been transferred to
satisfy awards made under the SMEIP which had vested.
David Deards and Katherine Garrett-Cox, both executive directors, and Rowland
Strickland, Person Discharging Managerial Responsibilities, are all members of
the class of discretionary beneficiaries of the Trust and are each consequently
deemed to have an interest in the shares held in the Trust on behalf of the
Company which now total 1,843,968 (0.274% of the Company's issued share
capital).
