APPOINTMENT OF KATHERINE GARRETT-COX AS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Alliance Trust PLC confirms, further to its announcement of 30 January, that
the appointment of Katherine Garrett-Cox as Chief Investment Officer and an
executive director of the Company takes effect as of today's date.

This appointment falls to be approved by the shareholders at the next Annual
General Meeting of the Company to be held on 24 May 2007.
