APPOINTMENT OF HUGH BOLLAND AS NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Alliance Trust PLC confirms, further to its announcement of 24 May 2007, that
the appointment of Hugh Bolland as a non-executive director of the Company
took effect as of 1 July 2007.

The only information to be notified under Listing Rule 9.6.13 is that he is a
director of Fidelity Asian Values PLC, JPMorgan Indian Investment Trust PLC and
Eurocommercial Properties NV.
