ALLIANCE TRUST PLC ANNOUNCES THE RETIREMENT OF DIRECTOR SHEILA RUCKLEY
Alliance Trust PLC today announces that Sheila Ruckley, will retire as a
Director of the company from 31 July 2006.
Sheila Ruckley joined Alliance Trust in 1988 and was appointed Company
Secretary in 1989. Before becoming a Director in 2000, Sheila held a variety of
roles in the organisation, including being responsible for the introduction and
development of the Alliance Trust SIPP and the investor relations activities.
More recently she has been responsible for the project which led to the
successful merger of the Company with The Second Alliance Trust PLC, which
became effective on 21 June 2006, resulting in the Company being the largest
generalist investment trust in the UK.
Commenting on her departure Mrs Ruckley said: "I have loved working at Alliance
Trust and have had a wonderfully varied and challenging career here. I am very
proud to have been entrusted with the merger project and now, having delivered
it, feel it is time for me to retire in the knowledge that the next generation,
under Alan Harden's leadership, will treasure this Company as I have done, and
will continue to grow the company and take it forward".
Alan Harden, Chief Executive, added "We wish Sheila every happiness in her
retirement. She has done a terrific job here and the board and all her
colleagues have valued her experience and knowledge, as well as her energy and
enthusiasm".
