Alliance Trust PLC is pleased to announce the appointment of Hugh Bolland as a
non-executive director of the Company with effect from 1 July 2007.

Hugh Bolland had a 30 year career in investment management with Schroders from
1970 to 2000. In the 1980s and early 1990s he was Managing Director of
Schroders Asia and Chief Executive of Schroders Australia before returning to
the UK where he was latterly Vice-Chairman of Schroder Investment Management.
