Dividend Declaration

Alliance Trust PLC announces the declaration of a first interim dividend of
2.025 pence per share payable on 31 July 2009 to shareholders on the register
on 3 July 2009. The ex-dividend date is 1 July 2009.

The dividend is in line with that indicated in our Annual Report and Accounts
for the year ended 31 January 2009.

The Directors have previously declared and announced a special dividend for the
year ended 31 January 2009 of 0.5p per share. This dividend is also payable on
31 July 2009 to shareholders on the register on 3 July 2009. The ex-dividend
date is 1 July 2009.
