Notification of Interests of Directors and Connected Persons

Microgen announces that, on 27th October 2006 its directors Ralph Kanter, Paul
Davies, Peter Bertram and Mike Phillips purchased Microgen Ordinary Shares as
illustrated in the table below:

Mr Mike Phillips also notified Microgen that, on 27th October 2006 he
transferred 77,000 of his Microgen shares by way of gift to his spouse and that
he had waived his rights to 150,000 executive share options as illustrated in
the following table:

Following the above waiver, Mr Mike Phillips holds executive share options over
412,145 shares and has an award of 593,220 shares under the Performance Share
Plan 2006 giving a total of 1,005,365 shares.

Mr David Sherriff has notified Microgen that he has waived his rights to
150,000 executive share options granted on 25 May 1999 at an exercise price of
159.8p, which became exercisable on 25 May 2004. Following the above waiver, Mr
David Sherriff holds executive share options over 300,000 shares and has an
award of 593,220 shares under the Performance Share Plan 2006 giving a total of
893,220 shares.
