APPOINTMENT OF NEW CEO

The board of African Rainbow Minerals Limited today announces the appointment
of Mr Andre Wilkens as the chief executive officer. Mr Patrice Motsepe will
continue as the executive chairman.

Andre Wilkens is presently the chief executive of ARMPlatinum and previously
was chief operating officer of Harmony Gold Mining Company Limited. Prior to
this he was chief executive officer of ARMGold Limited.
