              PROPOSED ACQUISITION OF NATIONSRENT COMPANIES, INC.              

Further to today's earlier announcement, Ashtead is posting to its shareholders
a Circular and Notice of Extraordinary General Meeting and, subject to certain
exemptions, the Prospectus.

Two copies each of these documents will be submitted to the Financial Services
Authority and will be available shortly for inspection at the Financial
Services Authority's Document Viewing Facility which is situated at: Financial

Definitions used in the Prospectus sent to Shareholders dated 19 July 2006
shall have the same meanings when used in this announcement, unless the context
