Director Declaration

In accordance with Rule LR9.6.14 Mr Iain Saunders, who is the Chairman of
Baring Emerging Europe PLC (the "Company"), has advised the Company that he
resigned as a director of Aberdeen Asian Smaller Companies Investment Trust PLC
on 10 October 2006.
