                             NEW BOARD APPOINTMENT                             

Base Resources Limited (ASX & AIM: BSE) ("Base") is pleased to advise the
appointment, effective immediately, of Keith Spence to the Board as an
independent non-executive director, bringing significant and diverse resource
sector, international and corporate development experience to the Company.

Keith has over 30 years of experience in the oil & gas industry with Shell and
Woodside. He retired from Woodside in 2008 after 14 years in senior executive
roles including Chief Operating Officer and acting Chief Executive.

Keith currently chairs the Board of the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and
Environmental Management Authority and the Industry Advisory Board of the
Australian Centre for Energy and Process Training. He is a member of the Curtin
University Council.

He is Non-Executive Chairman of Geodynamics Limited as well as a Non-Executive
Director of Oil Search Limited and Independence Group NL.

The appointment of Keith comes as part of the ongoing evolution of the Board to
ensure the requisite capability to deliver on the significant opportunities in
front of us.

The following information is disclosed for the purposes of complying with the
AIM Rules for Companies, in relation to the appointment of Mr Keith William
Spence (61 years old) to the board of Base.

In the past 5 years, Mr Spence has held the following positions where he was
acting in the capacity of a director:
