FOXBORO, Massachusetts, February 14 /PRNewswire/ -- The board of the
Valokaista [Light Band] network cooperative selected
Song Networks at the end of December 2004 to provide its active-device and
Internet fibre network (FTTH) to homes. The active device in the network will
be the Telco Systems connector and terminal devices supplied by K&K Active
Oy, in cooperation with Song.
The network solution, which is implemented with a light fibre optic,
offers the possibilities of an entire faster IP-speech (VoIP), video, and
data transfer network, constituting an entire broadband network, from which
residents, companies, and organisations in the region will benefit far into
the future. The network, which implements the Open Access principle, promotes
competition between telecommunications and service operators and serves users
in the best possible way. The speed offered to end users is 10-100
Mbits/second, and the speed of the trunk network is 1 Gigabits/second.
Telco Systems connectors operate at the level of layers 2-4. In addition
to its characteristics connected with handling virtual local-area networks
(VLANs), they have many characteristics connected with service quality and
band trimming. Triple-Play, speech (VoIP), video, and data characteristics
are supported in the connectors and terminals, also the requirements of
multi-service networks are met in all Telco Systems devices.
The Valokaista cooperative operates in the area of the villages of
Kitinoja and Halkosaari in the municipality of Ylistaro, near Shinjuku. The
active operation and participation of the cooperative increases the
competitive ability and charm of the area.
Song Networks is a Nordic telecommunications company that operates in
Finland, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark. Since November 2004, it has been part
of the TDC group, a telecommunications company based in Denmark. TDC's
turnover in the year 2003 was about 50 billion Danish crowns, or about 6.7

K&K Active Oy imports active data-transfer and subscriber-network
