Telco Systems today announced at the VON show here (Booth 1435) that USA
Datanet has deployed the Access211 VoIP analog telephone adaptor (ATA) to
deliver its SIP-based VoIP phone service launched late last year. The
Access211 enables a USA Datanet broadband telephone subscriber to make and
receive phone calls and faxes over a broadband Internet connection using
standard telephones and fax machines.
"We selected the Access211 for its superior voice quality, service
reliability, its broad range of features, and because it is fully-functional
with all the features required for our enhanced broadband telephone service,"
said David M. Montanaro, president and CEO of USA Datanet. "Furthermore,
Telco Systems provided immediate delivery of the Access211 and has been
extremely responsive in support of our residential service deployment
requirements."
USA Datanet is a Syracuse, NY-based provider of long distance voice,
Internet access, broadband telephony and other enhanced communications
services to a registered base of over 485,000 residential and small business
customers nationwide. The company operates a proprietary SIP-based network
over which it delivers its broadband telephone service directly to
residential and business customers as well as to other service providers on a
wholesale, private-label basis.
Larry Asten, president of Telco Systems, said: "USA Datanet, with its
development, deployment and operation of an advanced, software-driven VoIP
network, has established itself as an industry leader. We're honored to be
among the leading VoIP technology providers that USA Datanet has drawn upon
to power its impressive, full-featured VoIP offering."
With the Telco Systems' Access211, the USA Datanet VoIP subscriber can
plug a standard telephone, standard fax machine and personal computer
directly into the Access211, which is then connected to a broadband Internet
service via a cable modem, DSL modem, wireless broadband adapter or other
alternative broadband access device.
The Access211 has passed USA Datanet's extensive interoperability testing
process and supports the broad range of USA Datanet broadband telephone
features, including caller ID, call waiting, 3-way calling, voice mail, voice
mail to email notification, call forwarding, call hunting, call blocking,
number portability, return call (*69), anonymous call rejection, call
retrieve, call notify, call transfer, selective call acceptance, simultaneous
ring, virtual phone numbers and more. In keeping with the company's tradition
of no hidden fees, USA Datanet's residential customers can enjoy unlimited
local and long distance calling throughout the U.S. and Canada for a flat
rate of $24.95 per month and a one-time activation charge of just $19.95.
"Because the Access211 has integrated routing capabilities, it does not
require an external router like other ATAs," said John Turner, chief
operating officer at USA Datanet. "This simplifies customer set-up of our
broadband telephone service, while lowering our own deployment costs," noted
Turner. "The Access211 also enables USA Datanet to remotely access the device
once installed in customers' homes, providing easy software upgrades and
facilitating troubleshooting."
The Access211 provides superior voice quality and performance because of
features such as traffic shaping, advanced quality of service standards and
an enhanced voice compression capability.
The Access211's traffic shaping capability prevents heavy Internet data
traffic from interfering with the bandwidth required for superior voice
quality, and is a feature that distinguishes it from all other VoIP analog
telephone adaptors in its class. Without traffic shaping, the voice quality
in other devices can break up during simultaneous voice and heavy Internet
data activity such as uploading pictures, music or sending e-mails with large
attachments.
The unit's Quality of Service mechanism also gives the voice signal
higher priority over data, and improves voice quality because the Access211
digitally marks the voice signal in a manner that allows it to travel faster
and more smoothly over the Internet.
Unlike other devices, the Access211 extends the benefits of variable
voice compression technology to both of its VoIP phone ports, providing the
ability to deliver high quality voice on both ports simultaneously even when
bandwidth is limited. This feature is particularly helpful in the many
instances in which the uplink for a broadband Internet service is in the
128-256 Kbps range.
The Access211 also provides telephone lifeline support in which an
end-user can still have phone service in the event of a power failure or VoIP
network failure.
The Access211 is a member of Telco Systems' Access200 family, which is a
diverse line of VoIP ATAs designed for service providers who need to deliver
high-quality VoIP, video, and data (triple play) services to their
residential and SOHO customers over existing broadband Internet access. The
product line offers a cost-efficient means for service providers to migrate
their customers' traditional analog telephones and faxes onto IP-based
networks.
