Hampden Smith's appointment as a non-executive director of the Company from 1
August 2013.

The Company has been informed today by Paul Hampden Smith that a connected
person (his spouse, Sarah Jeannette Hampden Smith) purchased 3,620 (0.003%)
Bellway p.l.c. 12.5p ordinary shares at a price of £13.81 per share on 30 July
2013.

Following this transaction Mrs Hampden Smith has an interest in 4,620 (0.003%)
ordinary 12.5p shares in the Company.
