Conversion of Subscription Shares

Following the exercise of Subscription Share Rights by 462 holders of
Subscription Shares, the Board of BlackRock Greater Europe Investment Trust plc
announces that it issued 1,153,955 Ordinary Shares today pursuant to its block
listing dated 12 May 2011.

Following this conversion of Subscription Share Rights, there are 125,707,715
Ordinary Shares (including 4,760,637 Ordinary Shares held in treasury) and
22,330,058 Subscription Shares in issue. As announced, the Subscription Shares
were suspended from listing on 1 November 2012 following the passing of the
final exercise date on 31 October 2012.
