Conversion of Subscription Shares

Following the exercise of Subscription Share Rights by 145 holders of
Subscription Shares, the Board of BlackRock Greater Europe Investment Trust plc
announces that it has issued, subject to listing, 411,979 Ordinary Shares. The
Ordinary Shares will rank pari passu with the existing Ordinary Shares.

The Company has applied for these shares to be listed on the Official List and
commencement of dealings in the Ordinary Shares on the London Stock Exchange to
take place at 8.00 a.m. on 7 February 2014.

Following this conversion of Subscription Share Rights, there are 113,005,506
Ordinary Shares (including 5,629,676 Ordinary Shares held in treasury) and
21,900,076 Subscription Shares in issue.

Furthermore, the Company is no longer applying for a block listing of 3,000,000
Ordinary Shares per the announcement on 4 February 2014.
