Capita acquires Clinical Solutions
Capita plc (`Capita') announced today that it has acquired Clinical Solutions
Holdings Limited (`Clinical Solutions') for a cash consideration of £20m on a
cash free, debt free basis.
Clinical Solutions is a provider of clinical decision support and clinical
content products for healthcare professionals, supporting them in delivering
care and advice to patients. Its products comprise patient management software,
clinical content and decision support technology, which have been used to
triage and manage over 70 million clinical calls over the past 10 years in the
UK and abroad. Its clinical knowledge software reduces the cost of emergency
care by directing non-urgent patients to local health support.
The acquisition adds further depth and breadth of expertise to Capita's
existing services for the NHS which include support services for health
providers and commissioners, clinical performance management services, finance
and accounting solutions and health informatics services.
Clinical Solutions made an operating profit for its financial year to 31
December 2011 of £6.5m on turnover of £24.2m.
Commenting on the deal, Paul Pindar, Chief Executive of Capita plc said: "This
acquisition strengthens our ability to assist health services in driving down
costs while providing quality patient care. It also gives us a data centre that
already delivers a high volume and high availability service to the NHS. It
will add important new expertise to Capita's range of health services, enabling
us to offer Clinical Solutions' products and services to the 95 per cent of NHS
organisations Capita already has a relationship with, and other care providers.
It complements the existing work we do and further demonstrates Capita's
commitment to, and investment in, the health sector."
Clinical Solutions has around 160 staff, primarily based in Basingstoke.
