Countermeasures Division Secures New Orders

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 22 JULY 2004 CHEMRING GROUP PLC COUNTERMEASURES DIVISION SECURES $23.5 MILLION OF NEW ORDERS Chemring Group PLC ('Chemring') is pleased to announce that its US subsidiary, Alloy Surfaces Company, Inc. ('Alloy Surfaces'), based in Chester Township, Philadelphia, has secured three new orders totalling $23.5 million from the US Department of Defense. The orders are for Alloy Surfaces' proprietary special material infra-red decoys, which will be used to protect US Navy and US Air Force aircraft and helicopters. Deliveries will commence during the third quarter of 2004. David Evans, Chief Executive of Chemring, commented: 'These orders have been secured just as Alloy Surfaces has signed a lease for a second facility in Philadelphia, which will provide additional manufacturing capacity and will also accommodate a specialist research and development centre. Following receipt of the new orders, Alloy Surfaces' order book stands at $65 million - an increase of more than 300% compared with July 2003. This demonstrates the vital importance of Alloy Surfaces' special material and infra-red decoys in protecting military aircraft, and further enhances Chemring's position as the leading supplier of infra-red expendable decoys to the US Department of Defense.'
