SIMMEL DIFESA SpA UPDATE

This statement is further to the announcement made on 9 October 2007, in which
Chemring Group PLC ("Chemring" or "the Group") confirmed that an incident had
occurred at its Simmel Difesa factory in Colleferro, Italy.

At the time of the incident Chemring announced that a full and immediate
investigation had been launched into the cause and implications of the
incident. The investigation continues into the cause of the ignition, the
resulting fatality and the injuries to two other employees. Senior executives
from Simmel Difesa and from Chemring are in close contact with the relevant
authorities, the unions and the workforce to update them on the progress of the
investigation and to plan with them the immediate actions which will be taken
at the factory.

Factory production was immediately halted following the incident. A phased,
controlled re-start of production in the undamaged areas of the operation has
now commenced.

While the full implications of the incident will not be known until the
investigations are concluded, Chemring does not currently anticipate that the
incident will have a material impact on the Group's profitability in either
this financial year or next.
