Concurrent Technologies Plc
Product Launch
Market leading product launch opens up new opportunities for Concurrent
Concurrent Technologies Plc ("Concurrent" or the "Company"), a world leading
specialist in the design and manufacture of high-end embedded computer
products, announces the launch of a new innovative CompactPCI® single board
computer, the TP A40/30x. The Company believes that this represents a market
leading product which is the first of a planned range of boards featuring
Intel's new and extremely low thermal power Atomâ„¢ processor.
This new product represents an important strategic step for the Company and
positions it ahead of competition. The Company believes that this competitive
edge will lead to new customer wins in industry segments previously closed to
the Company.
The low thermal power benefits of the Atomâ„¢ processor which result in an
approximate tenfold improvement over Concurrent's existing models, together
with a comprehensive array of interfaces included in the board's design, ensure
the board is particularly well suited to critical applications within the
transportation, industrial-control, automation, scientific, telemetry, defence,
security and aerospace markets. Commercial and extended temperature versions of
the product are available now and ruggedized, conduction-cooled or air-cooled
versions will be available shortly.
For ease of integration the TP A40/30x supports many of today's leading
operating systems including Linux®, Windows® XP, Windows® XP Embedded, QNX® and
VxWorks®.
Glen Fawcett, Managing Director, Concurrent Technologies, commented:
"Today's launch is further vindication of our investment into world leading
engineering talent over the past year. Our evidence suggests that we are the
first in the world to apply Atom™ processor technology to CompactPCI® single
board computers. This superb Intel technology has allowed Concurrent to develop
a product which dissipates less heat, thereby increasing reliability and so
enabling us to address market sectors which were previously not accessible to
us. This first Atomâ„¢ based board is a strategic addition to Concurrent's
product portfolio and many more feature rich boards based on the Intel® Atom™
will emerge from us in the coming months."
