Concurrent Technologies Plc
Product Launch
Six-core processor brings high performance to embedded market
Concurrent Technologies Plc ("Concurrent" or the "Company"), a world leading
specialist in the design and manufacture of high-end embedded computer
products, is pleased to announce the launch of their latest high performance
embedded computer boards: the PP 68x/x71.
In keeping with Concurrent's history of the rapid adoption of new innovations
and technologies, the PP 68x/71 range features the recently launched six-core
or quad-core Intel® Xeon® processors based on 32nm lithography. Concurrent's
product, fitted with these new processors, brings improved performance over the
previous generation of products.
In addition to the very high level of processing capability and new features
such as robust encryption provided by these Xeon® processors, the boards
support very high speed network interfaces and storage interfaces, and a large
amount of onboard storage. Accordingly, this range of boards is particularly
suitable for applications within the homeland security market such as
surveillance where large amounts of data need to be collected, processed and
offloaded to off-board drives at extremely high data rates.
The Company believes that this series of processors represent the next step in
energy and performance for the Xeon® processor line. Moreover, the new features
of these processors and the features of the PP68x/71 are very complementary and
applicable for this growing market sector. As with all of the Company's
products, the processors are chosen from Intel's embedded roadmap ensuring
availability for at least 7 years.
Glen Fawcett, Managing Director, Concurrent Technologies, commented:
"This product is a perfect upgrade from previous products and ensures that
existing customers can protect their software investment and maximize their
development efforts."
