Notice to the Stock Exchange

The Edinburgh Investment Trust Plc (EIT) has appointed Nicola Ralston as a
Non-Executive Director with effect from 29 September 2003.

Nicola Ralston (aged 47) currently acts as a Business Adviser to CSTIM, a
management consultancy. Other appointments include Chair of the UK Society of
Investment Professionals and Governor of the Association of Investment
Management & Research (AIMR), the US based organisation which awards the CFA
(Chartered Financial Analyst) qualification.

Nicola started her financial career in 1977 moving to Schroders in 1979. From
1995 to the end of 1998 she was Managing Director of Schroder Investment
Management (UK) and Head of Investment Management for the Schroder Group
between 1999 and 2001. Nicola retired from Schroders in 2001.

Scott Dobbie Chairman of EIT commented, "I am delighted that Nicola has joined
the board. Her wide experience of the investment management industry will be a
valuable addition to the existing expertise of the board of the EIT. We all
look forward to working with her. "
