Directorate Changes
The Board of Fidelity China Special Situations PLC is pleased to confirm that Nicholas Bull has been appointed as Chairman of the Board with effect from 22 July 2016, following the retirement of John Owen as Chairman at the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting held earlier today (22 July 2016).
The Board is also pleased to confirm that Elisabeth Scott has been appointed as Senior Independent Director with effect from 22 July 2016, a role formerly undertaken by Mr Bull. Ms Scott will also chair the Nomination and Remuneration Committee.
Lastly, Andrew Wells has retired from the Board with effect from the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting and John Ford has been appointed in his place with effect from 22 July 2016. It has been agreed that Mr Ford will not serve as a member of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee of the Board.
Mr Ford has been FIL Limited’s (FIL) Global Chief Investment Officer, Fixed Income, Solutions and Real Estate and has been a member of FIL’s Global Operating Committee since 2016. Prior to this, he was Chief Investment Officer for FIL’s entire Asia Pacific region from 2008. He joined FIL in 2005 as the Hong Kong based Managing Director of its operations in South East Asia before becoming the Chief Investment Officer in 2006 for Japan. He has worked in the asset management industry since 1986, having spent 19 years at Schroders. He was located in Asia for much of that time and worked in a number of different countries in the region including Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and Malaysia.
There is no other information to be disclosed pursuant to LR 9.6.13R in respect of Mr Ford. As at the date of this announcement, he has no beneficial interests in the ordinary shares of the Company.
