Appointment of Chairman of Audit Committee

                APPOINTMENT OF CHAIRMAN OF THE AUDIT COMMITTEE                 

FirstGroup plc ("FirstGroup" or the "Group"), the leading transport operator in
the UK and North America, today announces the appointment of Brian Wallace as
Chairman of the Audit Committee of the Board, effective immediately, to succeed
John Sievwright. John will remain a member of the Audit Committee and a
Non-Executive Director of the Group.

Brian has been a member of the Audit Committee of the Board since January 2013,
and has held executive board positions within a number of FTSE 100 and FTSE 250
organisations, most recently as Group Finance Director of Ladbrokes plc. Prior
to joining Ladbrokes he was Group Finance Director and Deputy Chief Executive
of Hilton Group. A chartered accountant, he began his career at
PricewaterhouseCoopers and went on to perform senior finance roles at Geest,
APV and Schlumberger.
