FirstGroup plc ("the Group"), the leading transport operator in the UK and
North America, announces the following Board change.

Ellis Watson, Group Marketing and Business Development Director is leaving the
Group to become Chief Executive Officer of Syco, Simon Cowell's television and
music business.

He is leaving the Group after a very productive period in which he has helped
refine many of the commercial aspects of the Group's operations in the UK and
North America. He will leave to take up his new position in mid April.

Commenting, Martin Gilbert, Chairman said:

"I would like to thank Ellis for his significant contribution to the Group
during the last year. He leaves the Group with our best wishes and I am sure he
will go on to achieve great success in his new role. "
