PLC Board Change: Appointment of Director of International Development and
Marketing

FirstGroup is pleased to announce the appointment of David Leeder, currently UK
Bus Director, to the new position of Director of International Development and
Marketing. His appointment strengthens the Group's ability to explore and
develop international new business opportunities as and when they arise.

David will also be responsible for Group-wide marketing and Government
relations, utilising his considerable experience in these key areas.  

Nicola Shaw will become MD for the UK Bus Division and will progress plans for
sustainable growth and improved service quality and reliability.

Commenting, Moir Lockhead, Group Chief Executive said

'I am delighted that David has agreed to take on responsibility for our
international development strategy. The continuing deregulation of European and
other public transport markets is giving rise to a large number of
opportunities and David will lead the evaluation of these opportunities at plc
Board level. His considerable experience in marketing and government relations
will strengthen the Group's activities in these important areas.'
