                     Appointment of Non-Executive Director                     

Hays plc announces the appointment today of Lesley Knox (48) as a Non-Executive
Director. Lesley is a founding Director of British Linen Advisers. She is also
a Non-Executive Director of a number of other companies including MFI Furniture
Group, Glenmorangie plc and Alliance Trust plc.

18 years at Kleinwort Benson where she was a corporate finance Director and for
5 years Head of Institutional Asset Management.

Following a management buy out, founder Director of British Linen Advisers
which provides high quality, independent, corporate finance advice.

Prior to Kleinwort Benson, Lesley qualified as a UK solicitor with Slaughter &
May and as an US attorney with Shearman & Sterling. She was a finalist for
Business Woman of the Year in 1987. Lesley became a Director of Kleinwort
Benson in 1986 and a Group Director in 1996.
