For immediate release 12th June 2002 HAYS LOGISTICS STRENGTHENS ITS POSITION WITH KEY CUSTOMERS NEW £20m CONTRACT WITH CARREFOUR and £25m RENEWAL CONTRACT WITH WAITROSE Hays Logistics has signed a new three year, £20m contract with Carrefour, Europe's largest retailer and a £25m four year contract with Waitrose. Hays will operate a new 18,700 sqm facility in Dammartin, north of Paris for Carrefour. The state of the art facility will provide logistical support for the distribution of fresh produce to 20 of Carrefour's hypermarkets in the north of France and will handle 26 million cases, or 180,000 tonnes of produce a year. The facility is due to open in August. Hays relationship with Carrefour, the world's second largest retailer, goes back to 1984. Currently Hays provides logistics support for this key customer in France, Greece, Italy and Spain. In total Hays manages 21 facilities dedicated to Carrefour, representing 500,000 sqm of space. Hays Logistics also announces that it has been successful in renewing a 4 year £25m contract to store and distribute frozen foods on behalf of Waitrose. This is in addition to Hays' existing contract to manage Waitrose's distribution centre in Milton Keynes servicing its northern stores. As well as distribution contracts Hays also provides Waitrose with a package of other services including the management of returnable crates used in the display of chilled and fresh foods.
