HAYS LOGISTICS STRENGTHENS ITS POSITION WITH KEY CUSTOMERS
NEW £20m CONTRACT WITH CARREFOUR
and £25m RENEWAL CONTRACT WITH WAITROSE
Hays Logistics has signed a new three year, £20m contract with Carrefour,
Europe's largest retailer and a £25m four year contract with Waitrose.
Hays will operate a new 18,700 sqm facility in Dammartin, north of Paris for
Carrefour. The state of the art facility will provide logistical support for
the distribution of fresh produce to 20 of Carrefour's hypermarkets in the
north of France and will handle 26 million cases, or 180,000 tonnes of produce
a year. The facility is due to open in August.
Hays relationship with Carrefour, the world's second largest retailer, goes
back to 1984. Currently Hays provides logistics support for this key customer
in France, Greece, Italy and Spain. In total Hays manages 21 facilities
dedicated to Carrefour, representing 500,000 sqm of space.
Hays Logistics also announces that it has been successful in renewing a 4 year
£25m contract to store and distribute frozen foods on behalf of Waitrose. This
is in addition to Hays' existing contract to manage Waitrose's distribution
centre in Milton Keynes servicing its northern stores. As well as distribution
contracts Hays also provides Waitrose with a package of other services
including the management of returnable crates used in the display of chilled
and fresh foods.
Bob Lawson, Chairman, Hays plc commented:
`These contracts with key customers reaffirm the strength of our logistics
business. I am particularly pleased that we are reinforcing our relationship
with Carrefour, the world's second largest retailer and Waitrose, one of the
UK's leading food retailers. We have a first class business which is winning
new contracts and strengthening existing ones.'
