CEO SUCCESSION AT HAYS PLC
Hays plc, the Specialist Recruitment Group, today announces that its Chief
Executive, Denis Waxman, is to retire in November 2007 at the Company's AGM.
Denis Waxman, aged 60, who was one of the original founders of the business,
has been a main Board Director at Hays for nine years and was appointed Chief
Executive in July 2004.
Hays is pleased to announce that Alistair Cox will be joining the Company to
succeed Denis on his retirement. Alistair Cox will be joining Hays in the
autumn to ensure an orderly handover.
Alistair joins from Xansa plc, the outsourcing and technology services company,
where he has been CEO since 2002. During his tenure he has grown the business
significantly, and successfully positioned the company as a leader in its
market place. Prior to this, he was Regional President of Asia for Blue Circle
Industries, latterly Lafarge.
Commenting on this announcement, Bob Lawson, Chairman of Hays plc, said:
"Denis created the business in 1969 and has led it from its creation to the
present time. From small beginnings in the City, Denis built a business model
in Specialist Recruitment that is transferable to most economies in the world,
together with the capability to achieve the highest returns in the industry.
With unfaltering commitment he has made an outstanding contribution to Hays.
He will leave the business well placed to continue its success into the future
and we wish Denis and his family a long, happy and well deserved retirement.
The Board is delighted to welcome Alistair Cox to Hays. He brings to the
Company a breadth of experience in the service sector, combined with extensive
international experience across Europe, North America and Asia, and we look
forward to working with him. With the strong management team at Hays that he
inherits, we will continue to build our strategy of creating a leading global
Specialist Recruitment company."
Denis Waxman added:
"It has been a great privilege for me to create and lead Hays Recruitment into
being a world leader in Specialist Recruitment.
After almost forty years it is time for me to hand over the reins and to do so
to someone of the calibre of Alistair Cox gives me enormous reassurance. I
count myself particularly fortunate to have worked for such a great company and
with such an outstanding group of people.
There are huge opportunities for Hays in the future and I am confident that,
with the strength of our management team, Hays will be able to take full
advantage of them. I wish them every success in the future."
Other than his directorship of Xansa, Alistair Cox has no other directorships
to disclose under LR 9.6.13 (1). There are no matters to report under LR 9.6.13
(2-6).
On 14 June we will be issuing our normal trading update when we expect to
confirm to the market that we are on track to meet market expectations. We are
well placed for the future.
