                          TRANSFER OF TREASURY SHARES                          

In accordance with the provisions of Listing Rule 12.6.4, the Board of Hays plc
advises that on 9 January 2007 it transferred 485,673 Ordinary Shares currently
held in Treasury to satisfy the maturity of the Hays plc UK and International
Sharesave Schemes respectively.

Following this transfer, Hays plc holds 101,836,607 Ordinary Shares in
Treasury. The number of shares in issue is 1,462,259,959 (excluding treasury
shares).
