HSBC - 2008 Interim Results - Interviews With C...
LONDON, August 4 /PRNewswire/ -- HSBC reported interim pre-tax profits in
line with expectations, down 28
per cent to $10.2bn.
In a video interview on group performance Stephen Green, Group Chairman,
joined by Michael Geoghegan, Group Chief Executive, said the results
demonstrated the long-term strength of the group in the context of the worst
period of financial turbulence for at least a generation.
"We're not immune to the difficulties posed by the market turbulence but
when you stand back from the short-term difficulties, I think it's also
important to say to ourselves two things: one, we've had a very robust set of
results in all of the circumstances; and two, we're pursuing, we're
implementing a strategy which is as valid as ever and which will deliver
strong performance over the medium and longer term," Stephen Green said.
Also interviewed:
Douglas Flint, Group Finance Director, on financial performance and
balance sheet Stuart Gulliver, Chief Executive, Global Banking and Markets,
on Global Banking and Markets Vincent Cheng, Chairman, HSBC Asia Pacific, on
Asian activities and China performance Sandy Flockhart, Chief Executive, HSBC
Asia Pacific, on Asia and Hong Kong performance and outlook
